Cohesive Information Solutions accelerates multi-site software implementation program for wholesale energy provider

MADISON, AL, May 23, 2007 – Cohesive Information Solutions today announced that Southern Power, the largest wholesale energy provider in the Southeast, is live with Maximo Asset Management 6.2 at ten sites.  Southern Power, previously on Maximo 5.2 for asset and work management, is processing all asset, work, and supply chain activity in the new solution. 

Cohesive Information Solutions was responsible for leading the new supply chain and procurement process development, reconciliation of existing work management practices, application design, workflow development, and final configuration of the production Maximo system.  General ledger account codes were optimized for integration with Oracle Financials, and new capabilities such as automated faxing for purchase orders, mobile management, and integration with Microsoft Project 2003 were introduced as part of the reimplementation. 

“Having extensive knowledge of the product allowed Cohesive to rapidly customize and configure the application within Southern Power’s limited timeframe,” said Greg Barfield, an IT Business Analyst supporting Southern Power.  “In less than six months, we went live simultaneously at eight plants and two construction sites in a very well orchestrated startup.”

“Southern Power had a vision of its technology solution, and we helped to make it a reality,” explained Alexander Szaro, a principal consultant at Cohesive.  “We were able to rapidly prototype the application based on configurations used successfully with other clients.  The utility’s motivated project team was quick to learn the new processes and technology.”
